Features

There is more to emc2012 than an International Conference and large-scale exhibition. Prior to the event starting there are satellite meetings and workshops. The event also marks the culmination of the International Micrograph Competition and will witness a number of awards being made.

International Micrograph Competition

The Royal Microscopical Society’s biennial International Micrograph Competition was launched at the start of the year. This highly respected event will culminate with the winners being announced at emc2012.

As always, there will be stunning prizes on offer, and the companies that donate them can be very imaginative. In 2010, one lucky winner received a diamond. Yes, a diamond! In addition there were “must-have” consumer electronics such as cameras and iPods, and cash prizes. For more information, click here.

Medal for Life Sciences

The deadline for the life sciences medal has now passed, winners will be announced in April. The aim of the award is to celebrate and mark outstanding scientific achievements applying microscopy in the field of cell biology. For more information, click  here.

FEI-European Microscopy Award

The call for the FEI-European Microscopy Award was launched early this year, with a deadline on April 1, 2012.
