Digital Microscopy at the RMS Learning Zone

With a number of workstations available, you will have an opportunity to explore various methods of digital imaging.

Camera technology – introductory guide to choosing a camera to acquire images from a microscope, from consumer cameras to super-sensitive EMCCD cameras. What camera features should you look for? How can you match the resolution of the camera to the resolution of the microscope?

ImageJ introduction/workshop – lots of people use this for image processing and analysis (it’s free to download), it’s a good place for a novice to start.

Extended image acquisition and analysis – a round-up of more advanced techniques, just to explain what they are and why they are useful e.g.

An RMS specialist will be on hand to give assistance and there will be a talk on the opportunities of digital microscopy each day.
