Essentials of Light Microscopy: How to set up your microscope correctly

A Hands-on workshop using transmitted light microscopes.

The course will include   

 Standard Light Microscopy - how to set-up, align, adjusting eyepieces,  basic troubleshooting.

 Contrast Techniques - how to align phase contrast and basic introduction to DIC. Alignment of Fluorescence will also be available

The course will give very brief introductions to transmitted light microscopy and then focus on the practical elements of how to physically set-up a standard transmitted light microscope, including phase contrast.  We hope to also have a DIC and fluorescence stand available for those wishing to practice alignment using these techniques.
